Welcome to the Tennessee Grove

The Grove

Tennessee is part of The Grove, a Web site and online community created to engage and encourage citizens to plant trees and protect the urban tree canopy. The Grove in your state is sponsored by the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council and the Tennessee Division of Forestry.

Trees make a difference in the lives of Tennesseans. Urban forestry is a systematic way to keep communities green for all of the benefits trees provide including air quality, clean water, beautification, energy reduction, property values and wildlife habitat. Urban forestry truly is a way to make a difference for this generation and future ones. Join the Grove to find out more about urban forestry.

Why Join the Grove?

Inside The Grove, you have the ability to set up a profile, create photo “groves” of trees you have planted to commemorate special events, and join tree groups that create change in your community. Make sure you join the Tennessee group once you create your profile.

About Tennessee Urban Forestry Council

Georgia Urban Forest Council

The mission of the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council (TUFC), as an advisory board, is to promote healthy and sustainable urban and community forests in Tennessee through leadership, advocacy, education and planning. The vision of TUFC is to have clean air and water, economic stability and beautiful green places in which all Tennesseans and future generations will live, work and play.

TUFC complements the work of the Tennessee Division of Forestry by:

• Serving as a state-wide network to support organizations,    communities, individuals and decision makers to protect and increase
  urban tree canopy cover
• Promoting education and outreach through our annual conference and
tree climbing championship, newsletter, website, awards, resource tool
boxes, arboretum certification, notable tree exhibit, Landmark and
Historic Trees Register and town hall meetings
• Fostering strategic partnerships to strengthen and enhance efforts by
sharing expertise, pooling resources and establishing best practices
for healthy, sustainable and prosperous communities

You are invited to get involved through the TUFC with the important cause of urban forestry. Get involved by becoming a council member, serving as an officer with a local chapter or statewide board of directors or donating your time and resources to TUFC’s educational and outreach efforts. TUFC’s goal is for every family in the state to raise a tree and for every city to have a tree ordinance.

About Tennessee Division of Forestry

The Tennessee Division of Forestry works to protect the forests that cover half the state and provides more than 60,000 jobs. The Division of Forestry extinguishes the more than 2,500 fires that burn each year and helps control the diseases and insects that plague our forests. Since trees provide energy savings and storm water reduction and add scenic beauty, the division is also working to market the benefits of adding trees to urban areas.
